We love to see our horses proudly trotting through the pasture, heads held high, knees snapping, tails flagged and looking like champions; the real question is … What will happen when the leather goes on? Our young four-year-old stallion Hang Time is showing us that he doesn’t change much. Bred to be an English horse, the handsome AA Apollo Bey son out of the Ariston daughter Ariaelle, is living up to his heritage not only as a talented up and coming show horse, but as a promising sire as well. At just four years old, Hang Time’s first foal crop is hitting the ground and looking great … Upright necks, free shoulders, and beautiful movement is just a part of what we are seeing in his foals (photos and videos of foals to come soon); he certainly seems to be putting his stamp on them and we are pleased to see it coming through on more than just one foal or from one dam line.
While many young horses make their way to the show ring as three year olds, Crimson Farms chose to bring Hang Time along slowly and allow HIM to decide when the time was right; he made his way in to the ring for the first time at the AHASFV show in Santa Barbara in mid-May and to the delight of everyone there, he put on an unforgettable performance. With only one English Pleasure Jr. Horse class available, it was a short show for him, but it served him well as a learning experience and will hopefully go a long way in making him comfortable when he returns to the ring again in June, also in Santa Barbara, during the Region II Championships. For those of you that we didn’t get a chance to see in May, we hope to see you there ... If we miss you in Santa Barbara maybe we will get a chance to see you in Reno for Region III.
To say that the show was good for us would be an understatement; we had a great time, won our share of classes, and our barn displayed total teamwork … you can’t ask for more than that.
Wes and Beth Bowen have been doing a great job for us, and it showed in more than just the winner’s circle. With Champion, Reserve Champion, and Top Five titles in the English, Hunter and Western Pleasure divisions, the horses have never been better conditioned and the genuinely pleasant atmosphere and teamwork at the stalls has never been more noticeable than it was at this show. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them and hope to start bringing outside clients back to Crimson Farms for them to work with as well.
Our JTR rider Hillary Boothe made us proud by not only displaying her wonderful riding skills, but by simply being an all around great kid and good sportsman; we truly enjoy having her as part of the Crimson Farm family. Hillary rode Purebred Solid Brass KA to a Reserve Champion title in their AHASFV Western Pleasure JTR 17 and under class and a Top Five in their Pacific Slopes Western Pleasure JTR class … Hillary also rode ½ Arabian Hunter Allectri Phi CF and Purebred Hunter Allari CF to wins in their JTR classes at the show as well.
Hang Time made his show debut by winning his one horse English Pleasure Jr. Horse class with Wes; while that may not seem like much of a feat, they looked terrific and it served as a great learning experience for him (Hang Time, not Wes) … Wes also rode our Purebred English Pleasure mare Ghazis Gogo Girl to a unanimous Champion title in the Pacific Slope English Pleasure Open class. Beth made her trips to center ring as well showing Allectri Phi CF to a Pacific Slope Champion title, Allari CF to a Top Five in the Pacific Slope Championship and by picking up a number of ribbons in the AHASFV part of the show. Of course this wouldn’t be complete without complimenting our hard working, never complaining and always pleasant grooms Javier and Ernie on doing a spectacular job of taking care of the horses and for making everyone look great going in the ring … Everyone deserves a round of applause for a job well done.
What Do You Get When You Cross The Color Of Fame with a Phi Slama Jama daughter?
… We didn’t get spots, but we certainly did get a lot of everything else. Crimson Farms welcomed our first Purebred Saddlebred by The Color Of Fame in to the world a few weeks ago and we couldn’t be more pleased with the striking bay colt. Yes, color would have been nice, but when our lovely mare Jamin Like Crazy and the handsome young colt stepped in to the paddock for the first time, he took our breath away. With a long upright neck suggestive of that belonging to his sire, long graceful legs that appeared to float across the ground, and trot coming from all for corners, without making a sound, the self-confident youngster shouted ‘Look at me, I am special and I know it’.
We aren’t Saddlebred breeders, and finding ourselves in another show venue isn’t something that we have given much thought, but the idea of crossing the two champion producing Saddlebreds was too captivating an idea to pass up; what the future will bring for the young colt is yet to be determined, but for now we aren’t seeing him losing any of his parts.
People have been asking; we are ready to answer. Hang Time (AA Apollo Bey x Arielle by Ariston) will make his show ring debut in May, and we are pleased to say that he will be doing it in his own back yard. We hope that you will join us as we watch this handsome young stallion make his way in to the ring at the AHASFV 47th Annual Arabian Horse Show in Santa Barbara at the Earl Warren Show Grounds with trainer Wes Bowen in the irons.
In addition to Hang Time, we will be showing the beautiful English Pleasure mare Ghazis Gogo Girl, Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse Allectri Phi CF, Purebred Western Pleasure Horse Solid Brass KA, Country English Pleasure Horse EA Errogonce, and Purebred Hunter Pleasure Horse Allari CF ... We look forward to seeing you there.
As always, the staff of the Las Vegas World Cup Arabian Horse Show did an outstanding job of putting a great show filled with spectacular horses. Taryl Pearson and the rest of the crew are to be commended on a job well done and for making the show a pleasure to attend.
Crimson Farms extends a heartfelt thank you to Bob Boggs and his wife Janene for their help in getting our lovely mares GH Marwanaand GH Falcon Femme to the show and for their support during the changes in our program. Led by Bob, Marwana and Falcon Femme both put on a beutiful show and earned Top Five honors in their respective classes. For information regarding either of these wonderful mares, please contact either Bob Boggs at Midwest Station I or Susanne Mackrell at Crimson Farms.
As usual, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show was a great success and drew a huge number of exhibitors and spectators to the Arabian show world. The stallions and mares of Crimson Farms were well represented at the show … we appreciate the time the owners of our horses’ offspring put in to getting their horses there and we hope that they all had a great time. We have compiled a list of ribbon earners and we hope that if you notice that someone is missing that you will give us a call so that we can include them.

I have been told to ‘always expect the unexpected’ … I have also been told that ‘change is good’; this year has brought us not only the unexpected, but it has brought change as well.
At Crimson Farms we always strive to breed beautiful and athletic horses; we will continue to do so but for now we have decided to focus our farm training programs on the Performance divisions and eliminate our Halter training division … To accomplish this goal we welcome trainers Wes and Beth Bowen to our facility and wish them the best of luck throughout the year. In addition to Crimson Farms’ horses, Wes and Beth will be accepting training horses from outside clients in all Performance divisions and will be available for lessons for those clients that wish to trailer in to the farm; they also have a lesson program using Crimson Farms horses for those wishing to learn to ride and/or possibly show. For now, when we have horses that we choose to show in the In-Hand/Breeding classes we will most likely be using outside trainers and handlers.
We appreciate our Halter clients understanding the changes we have made at the farm and we wish them the very best … we will miss you. We also wish Rich Simpkins success and happiness in his future endeavors.
Congratulations to Cynthia Hayes and her Color Of Fame son Crimson N Color on their achievements at the Arabian Sport Horse Nationals. In his first Arabian show (he has been competing in Open Dressage shows throughout the year), Crimson N Color (The Color Of Fame x Bella Valentine) was named Reserve Champion out of thirty competitors in Third Level Dressage and also earned a Top Ten, from a class of twenty-four, in Fourth Level Dressage; Ms Hayes and the eight-year-old gelding are now preparing for Prix St. George. … We wish them the best of luck in their endeavors and look forward to hearing more from them in the future.
Youth Nationals and the Stallions of Crimson Farms
We realize that the youth are the future of the Arabian Horse Association and we commend all of the participants at the Youth National Championships for the dedication and hard work that it takes to get there. While Crimson Farms did not have any youth for Youth Nationals per se, a number of our stallions' get were shown in Albuquerque this year; we want to thank the youth, their parents, and their trainers for doing an excellent job and for showcasing these wonderful horses.
Congratulations to Madison Stevens and her Allusion AOF+ daughter Aflair CF on making all of their cuts in the Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure JTR 14-17 and JOTR 14-17 classes and on their Top Ten from a starting group of fifty-eight horses and riders in the Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure JOTR 14-17 class. Congratulations as well to Christian Martens and the Desert Heat VF+ son HMR Steam Heat on their Top Ten in English Show Hack JTR 13 & Under … Christen and Steam Heat also made their cuts in the Arabian Country English Pleasure 13 & Under JTR and JOTR classes.
The Color Of Fame was well represented in a variety of disciplines by Kathlyn Camacho and her Color Of Fame daughter BA Rise To Fame earning a Top Ten out of a starting group of fifty-one in the Half Arabian Country English Pleasure JTR 14-17 class, Sarah Brinkman with her Color Of Fame daughter DR Aloven Fame taking a Reserve Champion title in the Half Arabian JTH Mare class, Chelsie Carter and the Color Of Fame son Colour Me Not capturing a Top Ten in First Level Dressage JTR 14-17, and by Leah Perczak with her Color Of Fame daughter Love and Fame making both of their cuts in the Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure JTR 14-17 and making all three cards in the finals.
We wish all of you the very best and look forward to seeing you in the ring for many years to come.

As always, Region III came through with a well run, exhibitor friendly, and all around enjoyable show. The office staff and grounds-crew deserve to be commended for not only doing an excellent job, but also for remaining pleasant no matter how many challenges were thrown their way.
With the pre-show over, Crimson Farms started off the Regional Wednesday morning picking up their first Regional title with Red Hot Affair (Desert Heat VF+ x LM Padrons Affair) winning the ½ Arabian Yearling Filly class with Rich Simpkins on the lead. Saturday evening brought out the Yearling Sweepstakes Colts class and two Top Five titles for the farm with Cazius Klay CF (Gazal Al Shaqab x Elia PASB) and Valedictorian CF (Vertigo CF x EF Bella Contessa, which was followed soon afterwards by the Region III Stallion class were WH York picked up a well-deserved Reserve Champion title.
In addition to the horses shown by Crimson Farms, one of our favorite sons, Errall Flynn CF (Allusion AOF+ x Twilite) earned two Top Fives with his Walk Jog Ten and Under rider, a Top Five with his owner Lindsay Smith in AOTR Hunter Pleasure, and a Region III Champion title in the Arabian Side Saddle class with trainer Cari Thompson.
The Progressive Barn Party (always a crowd favorite), a friendly Poker Tournament, and a Hawaiian night complete with leis for everyone were all part of what made the show a hit and what keeps us looking forward to returning in the years to come. If we missed you this year or you were unable to make it to the show, we hope to see you there next year.
Crimson Farms started off with a bang Tuesday morning when Rich Simpkins led Madam Chall to the Champion Mare title in the Region II pre-show; they were followed by Susanne and GH Marwana taking top honors in the AOTH Mares class later that morning. Susanne and Marwana returned to the show ring Thursday morning where they were awarded the Region II Champion Mare AOTH title; Rich and Madam Chall brought home a Top Five title from a very deep Regional Mares class Friday evening. Friday night garnered additional titles for Crimson Farms by way of a Top Five from a lovely Yearling Filly Sweepstakes class for Princess Caroline CF (Psymadre x Crimsons Princess [by Allusion AOF+]), a Top Five for Thar CF (Desert Heat x Beaudika IA [by NV Beau Bey]) from the Yearling Sweepstakes Colt class (Thar was tied in points for Reserve Champion but was awarded the Top Five ribbon due to the tie breaker), and a Champion title for Just Jammin (Allusion AOF+ x Jammin Like Crazy) in the Half Arabian Yearling Sweepstakes Filly class.
The Performance division also fared well starting Thursday morning when DA Santiago, with Joanne Chavez in the irons, had a beautiful go taking the Reserve Champion title in the Country English Pleasure Jr. Horse class; this was followed by a Top Five for Solid Brass KA (also with Joanne up) in a wonderful Side-Saddle class and Allectri Phi CF (Allusion AOF+ x Jammin Like Crazy) having a brilliant go in a highly competitive Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse class bringing home the Champion title; the Reserve Champion title in the Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse class was awarded to another Crimson Farm bred horse, Aflair CF (Allusion AOF+ x LM Padrons Affair) ridden by Cynthia Burkman. By claiming three top titles at the show, the three Allusion AOF+ offspring have proven once again that Allusion is undeniably a sire to be taken seriously.
This year the Region II show returned to Santa Barbara after being held in Burbank for a number of years; when questioned about how things were going, show manager Jeff Reichman said that it was going great, that everyone seemed to be very pleased with the return to Santa Barbara, and that unlike many shows that have seen a decline in entries this year, the entries for the Region II show were actually up by about ten percent. We would like to thank Jeff and Region II for bringing the show back to Earl Warren and congratulate them for not only a putting on a well-run show but for making the show enjoyable for those of us exhibiting there.
Crimson Farms LLC is proud to announce the addition of The Color Of Fame to its already spectacular Stallion Line-up. After seeing him dance his way across the stage at the Cedar Ridge Select Sale in Scottsdale this year, Steve and Susanne made the decision to bring the magnificent Saddlebred stallion home with them. Color will complete the 2009 breeding season standing to the public at Crimson Farms; the decision as to whether or not he will continue to do so as of 2010 is still being considered.
Color has settled in quite nicely and has been enjoying the California sunshine since his arrival at the farm in late February and we are preparing for a photo and video shoot in mid June. For more information on this incredible stallion please look for his new web page in the Stallion listings some time after that.
